Winnipeg Jets vs Florida Panthers

Kyle Connor's season has been nothing short of impressive thus far. 2nd in the league in goals, Connor has 14 goals and 22 points, and 78% of his shots are unblocked. While the Jets as a team do not outshoot the opponent game in and game out, that does not stop them from winning, as they have now won 4 straight with the opponent generating more shot attempts then them in each gameand are 2nd in even strength goals per game (2.89).

The Panthers have the opposite scenario where they are 2nd in the league in shot attempts per game (69.05) and are fueled by Matthew Tkachuk, Brandon Montour and Carter Verhaeghe, who are in the top 20 for shot attempts per game. For scoring, though, the Panthers look to Sam Reinhart, who, at 13 goals and 12 assists, is 9th in the league in points. While Tkachuk and Barkov are next on the team with 17 points, Carter Verhaeghe is starting push his Points per 60, with 5 points in his last 5 games.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes are not hiding their motivation throw pucks towards the net. With 901 total shot attempts this season, they are 31st in shots on goal percentage at 47% and 1st in percent of goals that are at even strength. Yet, the Canes lead the league in Unblocked Shot Attempts per Game at Even Strength (50.1). 1st in SOG Against per Game (all situations) with 25.61 shots, Carolina will face a proven but up-and-down offensive core in Tampa. With 29 points in 19 games played, Nikita Kucherov is driving a ton of production for the Lightning and is 5th in the NHL in Shot Attempts per 60. Meanwhile, Victor Hedman is 3rd in the NHL in points for defensemen. But with 31.95 SOG against per game, the Lightning will have to find a solution to Carolina's offensive mentality that limits all 4 lines.

Colorado Avalanche vs Minnesota Wild

The Colorado Avalanche are starting to look play up to their Stanley Cup Champion caliber, winning 4 of their last 5 and have averaged 5.4 goals in those games. On the other side, Minnesota is last in the league in goals per game in their last 5 games. While they have been able to generate chances during these games, the Kaprizov and Zuccarello generate most of the shots as they are on the ice for over 7% of them. With Cale Makar dominating the blue line and scoring at a remarkable rate for defensemen (and all skaters), the Wild will have their defense on constant alert in Minnesota today.
